Natural Light Boudoir Session

June 29, 2016

Expanding into boudoir photography has been an interesting road so far. Earlier this year, I had put together a boudoir component to the Opulent Romance styled shoot in Laguna Beach. I’ve had the opportunity to work on a handful of boudoir shoots since then, and it’s been fun to expand my creativity in this realm.

I prefer natural light for most of my wedding photography, and boudoir is no different. There are plenty of ways to utilize sunlight coming in through the window. Perhaps the most common methods is to use it as a backlight. Since light functions as both particles and waves, backlighting the subject means the sunlight will wrap around them and provide beautiful side-lighting. It also allows for creative silhouettes, much like the very first image above.

A bedroom setting in the studio is ideal as it allows for the client to play around with different items. Whether it’s cuddling a pillow, wrapping herself around with the sheets, or playing with the curtains (et al), there will be plenty of photo opportunities that come about organically.

I am now booking both mini-session and full sessions for 2017, so feel free to contact me for more information. Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, book a session to surprise your partner with!
